A Trio Of First Impressions + Swatches from L'Oreal, Maybelline and BeneFit

I thought that I would something a little different on the blog that I hope you all enjoy. Unlike the usual first impressions videos- I thought i'd do a first impressions blog post.

Once again, a few new releases were on the stands at Boots and I simply couldn't resist. I feel that so far this year there have been a few absolutely brilliant releases but lately the stands seem a bit flat with a not many new releases.

First up, L'Oreal have a new mascara added to their collection- I bring you Miss Hippie Mega Volume Mascara. As far as high street/drugstore/affordable mascaras are concerned, L'Oreal have it in the bag and down to tee. After reviewing Lash Sculpt when it was first released i'm rarely disappointed by their mascaras. After getting used to the oddly shaped plastic wand with the Lash Sculpt, Miss Hippie is back to basics with a bristled brush. It is a thick and full brush packed with both short and long bristles to make sure you catch every lash. The look does create a lovely feathery look perfect for daytime wear and even though it is a big wand, its easy to manouevre on the lower lashes. I also like the orange and black packaging with the lid being the same shape as the Lash Sculpt. Available now for £5.99 and it comes in a waterproof formula too.

Next up is another contour offering from Maybelline in the form of their Master Contour cream stick. On paper it seems like a great idea, but in reality its not that great. Sure, the formula is actually really creamy but because the tip is so pointed on application you just get a tiny harsh line that just blends to nothing. Also, the highlighter just blends with the contour all into one. If the top was flat then I fell that it would work much better. The packaging is small, compact and twist up which is convenient. But I think i'll stick to my Master Sculpt Contouring powder as it's just so much better and easier to get on with. Master Contour is now available for £6.99 and comes in 2 shades.

My last item is one that is actually free in a magazine this month. Benefit have had huge hype surrounding the re-launch and extension of their brow collection. They even had a flash sale at the end of May so you could buy everything before it's official release at the end of June. However, Elle magazine had free samples of Goof Proof Eyebrow pencil in their most recent issue so I jumped at the chance and grabbed myself a copy.

Goof Proof is a super soft, highly colour pigmentation eyebrow pencil that gives a beautifully natural finish to your makeup look I have really sparse brows but this fills them in without looking over done. It even has a 12hr waterproof formula. As you'll see in the picture below the look is really nice and natural. The tip is slightly angulated meaning you can create real looking hair strokes and is twist up too. I'm yet to decide how I actually feel about the silver packaging. Some of the products look great, but others looks a bit cheap. The full sized pencil comes with a spoolie on the end to brush through the brows, blend and neaten the up. It's available now for £18.50 from HERE and comes in 6 shades.
