AFTERNOON TEA AT ONE ALDWYCH - Inspired by Charlie & The Chocolate Factory

Back in November I surprised my sister with afternoon tea at One Aldwych. Oh man were we in for a treat and a half. The pictures pretty much speak for themselves- we such an amazing time, the service, the food everything was perfect. We were given menu cards with all of the choices on and every course was explained to us on serving- a really lovely touch.

We were made so welcome and the staff couldn't do enough for us.

Egg & Cress brioche rolls, beef and wholegrain mustard on chocolate bread, leek and stilton quiche and tomato tart. As you can see below we totally demolished it. We were also given a second plate of everything!

Most of it came in these handmade wooden stands which save a lot of space on the table- really well thought out. We have rhubarb and custard candy floss, jam doughnuts, salted chocolate milk, chocolate and cheesecake egg with mango puree and strawberry trifles in the stand.

This basket was brought separately and contained homemade plain scones - with clotted cream and jam brought over separately. Along with chocolate brownies made in the style of madelaines and blueberry brioche. There was seriously SO much food it was crazy.

 Strawberry trifle

Homemade chocolate egg filled with vanilla cheesecake and mango puree on top. This was DIVINE!

Chocolate brownie madelaines dusted with gold lustre.

Blueberry Brioche- these were so good but we struggled to fit everything in.

The waiter had asked what sort of day we had had at the beginning of the afternoon tea and I said I'd brought my sister here as it was her birthday. We didn't think anything more of it and then at the end just before the bill- he bought out this for her. It was such a lovely treat and was the cherry on top of the cake.

A truly wonderful day and if you have a sweet tooth- this is for you. At the beginning they ask if you have dietary requirements and they offer gluten free too. Just out of courtesy you should advise them on booking if you require anything different but they are more than accommodating.

There is also lots of different tea to choose from and they even do a really cool cocktail Charlie which smokes when it comes to the table- a pretty impressive sight I have to say.

Afternoon Tea is £37.50 person and £48.50 for Champagne afternoon tea. It is well worth every single penny. Can't find fault at all.
