Gleaming Gnashers: Beverly Hills Formula Perfect White Black & Perfect White Gold Toothpaste

I went to the BDIA Dental Showcase last month in Birmingham and came across these beauties from Beverley Hills Formula*. Black toothpaste really is a thing now and I think it does give the appearance of brighter, whiter teeth with the blue pigments which create the optical illusion of whiter teeth.  Perfect White Black contains activated charcoal which knocks that bacteria that cause bad breath on the head and neautralises them. Charcoal also helps to remove tannins (compounds found in tea, coffee, wine, berries and spices- all the things that stain your teeth!) from the surface of your teeth without harming your enamel. Hydrating silica also boosts the whitening effect on the teeth. As with all whitening toothpastes, they can remove superficial stains, but you won't go from Nanny McPhee to Simon Cowell overnight- you'll need professional whitening. For general staining though, and along with regular hygienist visits, this is a great toothpaste to maintain a bright white smile. I whiten my teeth at home, but haven't done it since using this as it maintains the shade I want with regular use.

This is very fresh mint flavour but not at all over powering and containing the most important thing- Fluoride! At £4.99 a tube, it's a lot less pricey than the Curaprox Black is White toothpaste which is £19.95 a tube! // £4.99 from Superdrug

We also have the Perfect White Gold Toothpaste- This has tiny gold particles suspended in the toothpaste- gold is known for it's anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties, and I have LOVED using this toothpaste, even more so than the black version. It also contains the whitening properties from hydrated silica and pentasodium triphosphate is the stain busting ingredient that will remove stains such as tea, coffee and wine. If we are being extra scientific *excuse me while I put my Dental Nurse hat on* the Tetrasodium Pyrophoshate coats the surface of your teeth to prolong tartar build up- everyone develops tartar at different rates so it may or not help! The minty taste is not at all overbearing and a very pleasant one to use. // £5.49 from Superdrug

Next up we have the Perfect White Black Mouthwash- I had never seen a black mouthwash and was completely hooked by this- this is to be used in conjunction with the Black toothpaste to help boost the whitening. It does definitely make my mouth feel a lot fresher, but mouthwashes aren't designed to be used every day because they kill the good bacteria which you need for a healthy mouth, as well as the bad bacteria which you want to get rid of. I use this maybe twice a week- no more than that is necessary. It contains the same properites as the toothpaste, but also with no harsh abrasives or chemical that will harm enamel.  // £4.49 from Superdrug

Have you tried Beverly Hills Formula products? What are your thoughts?

I also can't stress enough how important fluoride is in your toothpaste!
