Luscious Lashes: Bourjois Volume 1 Seconde Mascara Review

 Hey everyone,

I thought that I would share with you my thoughts on the new Bourjois Volume 1 Seconde Mascara*.
I love a mascara as much as the next girl and when I saw the actual shape and structure of the brush, I just had to give it a go. I was sent the non waterproof (which is fine by me as I very rarely wear waterproof mascara anyway). I like the packaging and being silver with a neon coral lettering it is definitely easy to find in your makeup bag! I have the shade 61 Black, normally I would go for shade also. Bourjois took inspiration from professional round hairbrushes, which create volume right from the root.

It claims to coat your lashes in an instant (1 second to be exact, as the name would suggest), give you 16 hour hold and be easy to remove. I can't say it makes my lashes amazing in 1 second, I like to use it work into the roots of the lash before coating the rest. It does however, apply like a dream with no clumps what so ever. In the pictures below, I haven't curled my lashes and I don't very often do- so I was very impressed with its ability to hold the lash curled. My only gripe is that sometimes a little bit falls off onto my cheeks- I'm not talking panda eyes or owt, towards the end of the day I do notice a little drop down.

For me the most impressive thing is the wand and brush itself. It is has normal bristles like a normal mascara, but the embedded in-between are spherical bristles to capture and coat each lash individually. The spherical bristles wrap around and envelope each lash, then the straighter bristles define and separate each lash so your lashes are clump free and voluminous. This, I whole heartedly agree with.

Before

After

As you can see, a great improvement from the before picture!

I have also noticed that as someone with hooded eyelids, this dried very quick so no immediate transfer to the eye lids which can get SO annoying, especially if you have spent ages doing a really nice makeup then have it ruined by transfer - curse my hooded lids!!

You can now grab this and the waterproof version at your nearest Boots for £9.99 or 2 for £14 on and Superdrug for £7.99

What are your favourite mascaras? Have you tried this one?

Let me know in the comments!

Until next time,

A xx

  3. This is definitely on my list to try! The wand seems really interesting and as someone with hooded lids, I love to hear that there is no transfer to the lids. That is a huge plus!
